News, events, and other interesting finds

Sometimes, when I communicate with people, I tend to use vague, general words that have a variety of meanings, or can refer to several values.

Here’s a list of what I normally use, and what I could mean by saying them:

  • a while more > 30 mins
  • wait > 5 mins to 1 hour
  • later > it’s in my to-do list and I’ll do it when I like it
  • hold on > 3-5 mins
  • O.K. > I’m 70% ok with it
  • I see > (Just to fill in conversation gaps)
  • okay… > I doubt it / I’m thinking…
  • er… > don’t bother me with this
  • … (nothing said) > I’m thinking / I missed what you said / I’m ignoring you / I’m unhappy / I’m not in the mood
