I sprained my neck during the night… can’t move around without some effort and pain. Tried a heat pack but didn’t help much.
This morning the lecturer was unhappy at everyone in the lab because nobody did his favourite question from the previous lab, even though we had one month to do it. Only me and another guy did it. The lecturer said he will put that lab question in the final exam.
Yesterday I submitted my SS assignment. Also got back the results of the FCS test during the lecture =/ didn’t do too well or too badly >.< above average but was lower than my expectations. Actually everyone’s expectations – the average score was 53/100 in the class, fourteen out of forty people failed. Guess the lecturer was a bit too strict on the marking, and the questions were almost all open-ended – completely NO multiple-choice questions.
I stayed up all night trying to understand and do today’s HF lab, and only went to sleep at 4:30am. Woke up ten minutes before the lecture and was almost late. Luckily I’m staying near uni… Anyway, the lab was really hard, only managed to get to halfway in the two hours. My lab mate and I decided to attend the make-up lab lesson at the end of the semester to complete the other half.
Today I got back my SETM assignment… didn’t do that well, but I passed!
In this assignment, I have to program a software that uses the Simple-DES (Data Encryption Standard) algorithm to encrypt and decrypt plain text file.
I just completed it. Have spent the past few days cramming to complete it, as I encountered several problems that were very difficult to fix.
More about the assignment, my report and program sources are available on the newly-created school page.
I have added a new page for my uni projects, so you can see what I’m doing (reports, programs, etc.)
It is accessible from the navigation bar on the left.

Another week has passed so quickly…
On Monday after submitting my assignment I took a bus down to Riverton to have lunch and explore the shopping mall there. Had to walk 1km from the bus stop to the place (didn’t know of a better way), and back later. I didn’t buy anything much except an electric blanket which was on sale, and two bottles of juice.
Monday evening I went out to dinner with some of my cell group members at Northbridge. We had crab and two other dishes, I think it was quail and another vegetable dish. It was very nice, especially the crab dish! I’m not a fan of crab but it sure was really extra yummy
The next few days I mostly started on my next assignment, and watched some movies…
Thursday Justin invited me over to his home for dinner. (he told me it was his parents’ idea ^^) We watched some anime and played some games…
Friday morning there was Good Friday service in church, and in the evening had a cell outing to Cottesloe beach. Took some nice photos of the sunset.
Saturday I downloaded software and put together a computer recovery toolkit, which has programs to help troubleshoot, repair, tune, recover, etc. from any computer that has problems. It can also boot linux in case of OS failure.
Also found out that the software security assignment deadline has been postponed to the following Monday. Have readjusted my study timetable to space out the work.
Oh yeah… whole of last week my webcam couldn’t work. I didn’t know what to do – tried system restore, reinstalling the drivers, using another OS to detect it, etc. but it didn’t help. The webcam disappeared from my computer; couldn’t be detected at all. I guessed that it may have been because of the overuse from the webcam software (I had it upload images from my webcam to my website). Today it suddenly could work again!
