Large Text File Viewer v5.1 – 367KB
- Have you ever felt frustrated when you just want to look at the content of a large text file but it takes forever for Notepad or Word to open it?
- This program was designed for viewing large (>1GB) text files.
- It uses little memory and is able to open a gigabyte file instantly.
- Background file indexing makes browsing even faster.
- It opens files that are currently being written by other programs, and automatically checks and reads the files if new contents have been appended.
- It supports view split. The user may split the view either horizontally or vertically, and have each side show different portion of the same file.
- It allows the user to perform high-speed complex text search by means of plain text or regular expression. The regular expression syntax is slightly different from the standard ones. Please click here for details.
- The regular expressions for finding the following items have been provided as preset for the convenience of the users: quoted string, hexadecimal integer, floating-point number, date of any format, time of any format, domestic phone number (US & Canada), social security number, IP address, email address, http address, ftp address
- For CSV (Comma Separated Value) files, when the user hovers the mouse over any field in the file, a hint automatically appears with the field name.
- No additional DLL (such as MFC or VB) is required.
- No installation is needed.
- The executable is only 568KB!

Another week has passed so quickly…
On Monday after submitting my assignment I took a bus down to Riverton to have lunch and explore the shopping mall there. Had to walk 1km from the bus stop to the place (didn’t know of a better way), and back later. I didn’t buy anything much except an electric blanket which was on sale, and two bottles of juice.
Monday evening I went out to dinner with some of my cell group members at Northbridge. We had crab and two other dishes, I think it was quail and another vegetable dish. It was very nice, especially the crab dish! I’m not a fan of crab but it sure was really extra yummy :)
The next few days I mostly started on my next assignment, and watched some movies…
Thursday Justin invited me over to his home for dinner. (he told me it was his parents’ idea ^^) We watched some anime and played some games…
Friday morning there was Good Friday service in church, and in the evening had a cell outing to Cottesloe beach. Took some nice photos of the sunset.
Saturday I downloaded software and put together a computer recovery toolkit, which has programs to help troubleshoot, repair, tune, recover, etc. from any computer that has problems. It can also boot linux in case of OS failure.
Also found out that the software security assignment deadline has been postponed to the following Monday. Have readjusted my study timetable to space out the work.
Oh yeah… whole of last week my webcam couldn’t work. I didn’t know what to do – tried system restore, reinstalling the drivers, using another OS to detect it, etc. but it didn’t help. The webcam disappeared from my computer; couldn’t be detected at all. I guessed that it may have been because of the overuse from the webcam software (I had it upload images from my webcam to my website). Today it suddenly could work again!

SETM assignment due tomorrow. Actually today already. Managed to complete the report on time (phew!). Lucky got an extension and last minute I got inspiration :) Later can relax and go town for shopping and R&R.
The next two weeks are term break, however I still have the software security assignment deadline coming up, and I haven’t started =/
Oh yea, just found out today that although my prepaid card don’t have any credit left, I still can receive incoming calls/smses, and I can send out sms from the telco’s website. That means I can save money hahas…

Finally I had some time and inspiration to migrate the old website data to fit into the new template. I had already started on the modification of the basic template using the blog template since last year, but didn’t have time until now to implement it. I also edited the blog template to make it wider, so that it will look more or less like the main site.
http://www.samliew.com (new look!)
The new template now is more suited for those with a larger screen, and uses a much brighter colour scheme then the previous.
Now I have to fix broken stuff, remove pages that are useless, update the content, and complete the site for mobile and handheld displays. Preview: http://www.samliew.com/m/
