Today was a rather long day (Tuesdays and Thursdays are long days) and there was a four hour break because the IT2655 Mobile Applications Development teacher was on MC. I went to the school shopping mall and bought a USB fan for my laptop which cost me $9.60. I didn’t realize the fan had lighting included until I reached home because the fan on display didn’t have any light (probably spoilt). I also went to the LAN shop with Chin Wah and played DotA and Red Alert 2 during my 4 hour break. Chin Wah skipped 2 classes to join me.
Yay! At last today I received my certificate for the Java certification test I took in October.
Today there wasn’t any IT2652 Operating Systems lab; so I stayed at home playing GunBound and got carried away until 12:30pm, when I quickly changed and left the house just as my brother came home. I missed the bus by half a minute -_-” and ended up 13 mins late. The bus timings are getting more and more irregular. I should get out 40 mins before classes start.
During IT2064 XML & Web Services lab session today I got to join a very friendly group in BI0404 which has 6 members already; the tutor realized that I was “new” and had no group, so she introduced me to one. We discussed an case study for the lab session. I realized that all the lab sessions for this module was all theory and no programming at all after looking through the notes & worksheets. This made me feel disappointed as I was looking to a hands-on module.
Anyways, during the practical a lady from CMPB called and asked me to get a letter of certification from my poly and fax it over to her immediately (around 2pm), but I told her I was having lessons and will do it ASAP. I decided to skip tutorial as I figured that I had not much time to rush to the post office to fax it (before CMPB closed for the day). Read on for the reason: My father is going to the U.S. for further studies in June 2006 and my whole family is going. By right I am not allowed to go as I have to enlist for NS (National Service) after graduating from poly, but my parents have talked to an MP (Minister for Parliment) for deferment and an appeal is under way. The MP referred the case to CMPB and now they are processing it. They needed to certify that I’m still studying before they can continue with their stuff.
Just to mention happenings during this last week: I managed to get my web host (byethost.com) to remove the forced adverts on my site (http://samuel.byethost24.com), but I first had to place that banner in some other place in my site. I designed it to me at the bottom of every page, but coded javascript to remove it within 10 seconds after the page is loaded.

Hope I haven’t been too boring… It’s just my style to be detailed. Could have typed more but I’m going to bed now. Have to wake up early tomorrow for tennis.
School just started a week ago… when everyone else having holidays… The first week already got 4 projects to do…
Update on my website: I’m planning to change to a better webhost, as geocities’ frame looks stupid. The alternative is to pay… but as it’s a non-profit website it’s not a good idea – unless someone is willing to sponsor =P
I’m getting lots of projects this semester. One of them requires me (and my group) to create an e-commerce website. Sounds easy with my web programming skills right? No. I gotta learn ASP and Visual Basic (programming languages) to program the ‘engine’ for the store (selling elderly products & health care stuff). Furthermore I got to learn how to code a forum for the site (self-study). *sigh* Looks like I’ve got to be more self-disciplined this sem. play less, study more; but I’ll keep my website updated.
