A Path Today Leads To A Different World Tomorrow

My Hobbies
Reading

I read to pass time and for self-learning, tends to be either fiction stories, comics, or I.T.-related stuff. I used to visit the library regularly after secondary school to scout for and borrow books. Nowadays it has become more of reading blogs and news around the internet using feed aggregators.

Programming

When I was much younger, my dream was to program a game someday. I experimented with simple programming languages like ZZT-OOP and Visual Basic. To me it was interesting and fun. I learned Java during the course in polytechnic, and I absorbed it like a sponge to water. I even felt that the lessons were too easy and Googled for more programming exercises during my free time. It was about that period that I also took up an interest in JavaScript, did my own self-learning and experimentation.

Web Design

When I was in secondary school, I found out that the library near my house was conducting basic courses on web design. My mum was supportive and allowed me to attend. From there, my interest grew and it eventually became a hobby. I have made many interesting designs for my website since then, and it has more or less settled to about once in two-three years due to study commitments.

Photography

I started to like photography after my parents showed me old photos of when I was younger, which made me decide that I have to learn to take good photos for future memory's sake. I have since collected gigabytes of photos which is stored and backed-up on several hard disks in case of failure. I also taught myself how to use Photoshop, cos I like to make myself and other look good. I try to bring my camera with me all the time, in case I come across an opportunity that I will regret not taking photos of. My photos tend to be of portraits, group photos, and scenery.

Tennis

Started playing/learning recreationally around 2005. It is one sport I can never get enough of, and I'm still learning.

Collecting Stuff

I am relatively neat person, which means I keep stuff in collections. I happen to have large collections over time, which consists of stamps, stickers, phone cards, marbles, bus tickets from old times. Nowadays I collect Christian/classical/instrumental music, desktop wallpapers (mostly scenery), funny videos, and electronic books (eBooks) of self-help/fiction/how-to's. I keep collections for memory's sake, and also as resources for future use.

Playing Computer Games

I started playing computer games when I was around eight. You might think that it isn't a big deal, but computers then was a luxury. My dad's first computer was running on windows 3.1, and there were lots of interesting games my dad installed that nowadays would have been regarded as mediocre. In secondary school, my friends and I would bring games on a floppy disk to play on the library's computers during recess. Come to think of it, I have never touched a computer system that I have never loaded or played any games in, even work and those computers in the army.

Some computer games that I have played before. I have stopped playing most of them after completion or gotten bored. Some of the games are so old you can't find them anymore.
